Every day on my way to school, I pass The Dayrooms Café location in Holborn. While the main brunch location is in Notting Hill, the one in Holborn is a cute little slip of a coffee shop.
I was out and about, running errands, so I thought I’d take a break and stop in.
My go-to, as you may know by now, is a soya vanilla latte: a mild, sweet drink that both mollifies and showcases the espresso. I decided to switch it up and order a mocha. They didn’t have soya milk, so I went with almond.
To be certain, it was within my Top 5 lattes I’ve had in London. While it wasn’t super frothy, it was very smooth. The coffee and the milk and cocoa were seamless.
For such a small cup, though, I was a bit salty at the price. A regular medium mocha from Prêt à Manger costs £2.15. A medium mocha from Caffè Nero costs, at worst (have-in instead of takeaway), £2.90. This teeny guy cost £3.20.
Don’t get me wrong: this mocha latte was melt-in-your-mouth delicious for the short-term. Although, I’d reckon it wouldn’t be so delicious in the long-term for my (broke) (American) wallet.
The Dayrooms Café is a good pick for “Treat Yo’Self” days instead of your daily cup of morning Joe.
